Therapy for life
between two worlds
For adults, couples, and families navigating relationships, family expectations, and life's transitions, with cultural understanding at the center of the work.
Johnny K. Wong, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Brooklyn, New York. A second-generation Chinese-American, he has over ten years of experience helping adults, couples, and families navigate relationship challenges, family conflict, and life transitions.
He specializes in working with Asian American and second-generation clients, especially high-achieving individuals facing family pressure, intergenerational differences, and the complexities of bicultural identity. He also supports adults who are children of immigrants and feel caught between cultures: navigating communication gaps with parents, balancing personal goals with family expectations, and finding peace within themselves.
His style is warm, collaborative, and insight-oriented. Together, you'll explore patterns, improve communication, set healthy boundaries, and build more meaningful relationships.
He provides secure virtual therapy, in English and Cantonese, for clients throughout New York State.

Dr. Wong is a private-pay provider and does not bill insurance directly. Superbills are provided for out-of-network reimbursement, and many clients receive partial coverage. Family sessions are also available. A free 15-minute consultation helps us decide whether we're the right fit before you commit.

How do we begin?
We start with a free 15-minute phone call. It's a chance to share what's bringing you in, hear how I work, and get a feel for whether we're a good fit. If it feels right, we'll schedule a first full session from there.
Do you take insurance?
I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. I can provide a superbill you can submit for possible reimbursement. Many clients receive partial coverage, and I'm happy to guide you through the process so it feels simple and manageable.
How does out-of-network reimbursement work?
Many insurance plans include out-of-network mental health benefits. After each session or month, I provide a superbill with the details your insurer needs. You submit it, and your plan reimburses you directly according to your out-of-network benefits. Before we start, it can help to call your insurer and ask about your "out-of-network outpatient mental health" coverage and deductible.
What are your fees?
Individual sessions are $309 and couple sessions are $345. Family sessions are also available, and we can discuss fees during your consultation. Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Health Savings Account (HSA) cards.
Have questions?
Send a note and let's figure things out together. Reaching out can feel difficult, especially if you're used to handling things on your own. You don't have to navigate this alone.
